FAQ

  • What is the difference between an emergency evacuation kit and a survival kit?
Although at first glance both kits may contain similar things, these kits have different main purposes.
An emergency evacuation kit is needed by every person and will provide you with peace of mind and self-sufficiency for a short period of time (up to 72 hours). Usually this kit is needed in sudden emergencies or emergencies and immediate evacuations, in which you do not have time to pack your luggage or take necessary things with you, but you need to grab a pre-prepared bag (comfortable backpack) and urgently leave your home, institution or place of residence.
The things in the kit should provide you with food, water, warmth and security for a short time, for which it is possible to be evacuated for, for example, 2-3 days. Such situations may be large fires, floods, earthquakes, civil unrest, military actions, etc.
A survival kit has a slightly different purpose. It is designed to be self-sufficient and to survive with it for a longer time outside the place where you live. It can provide you with food, water, warmth, survival in nature between one week and one or more months. These kits have tools and gadgets for fishing, cooking in the forest, making a shelter, etc. It can also be used in cases of emergency evacuation, but also contains many other useful things (tools) for survival. These kits are also suitable for hunters, fishermen, mountaineers, tourists, for people prone to extreme experiences, etc.
  • What should an emergency evacuation backpack contain?
Water: The most important thing is to provide yourself with drinking water. If you find that water is too heavy for you or you cannot get water with a long shelf life, Evaqon offers an effective solution – an efficient and lightweight water purification filter.
Food: For convenience, use dehydrated meals, specially designed to have a long shelf life without spoiling their taste and energy qualities.
Light: Choose a flashlight that uses LEDs, as they will last thousands of hours, or with a built-in dynamo that automatically charges its internal batteries.
Radio: Information is crucial during any crisis. Get a small radio or at least make sure your smartphone has a built-in radio.
Clothing: Choose light and compact clothes that do not take up much space and get a light and compact emergency blanket that is made specifically for evacuation.
First Aid: The contents of your first aid kit should include, at a minimum, wound cleansers, gauze, plasters, and bandages.
Communication: Telephone and mobile networks may be down or locally overloaded during an emergency. Walkie-talkies are an excellent choice, as they work independently of any networks.
Backpack: It is best to choose a sturdy tactical backpack with a wide opening, many compartments, pockets, and reinforced straps.
Miscellaneous: Provide yourself with an independent power source (battery), a good quality multi-tool, a whistle, a knife, a compass, a strong rope, a lighter, etc.
  • Why should I have my own emergency kit?
Remember that emergencies rarely occur at ideal times. Unfortunately, disasters know no boundaries. Expect the unexpected and be better prepared for any emergencies. Threat levels have been high in recent years, but it’s not just about security. Severe weather events and other disasters are increasingly affecting our country. Floods, as well as earthquakes, are a widespread problem, forcing people to evacuate their homes and businesses. Unfortunately, it is very likely that floods and earthquakes will increase in both regularity and severity. One of the reasons for floods is that warmer air associated with climate change simply holds more moisture, leading to more frequent and heavier rains. Bulgaria is unfortunately also an earthquake zone. We remember strong earthquakes, and in the future we are also likely to expect earthquakes even more frequent and stronger. No one can predict the future 100% accurately, and that's why... It pays to be better prepared. Benjamin Franklin said, "If you fail to prepare, you are preparing to fail."
  • Why is dehydrated food better than regular canned food?
The main difference is in weight and nutritional value. A can weighs 500 g and takes up space, while a package of dehydrated food weighs about 100 g, but after adding water it turns into a filling portion of 400–500 g. In addition, freeze-drying technology preserves the vitamins and taste of products much better than heat treatment in canning.
  • How long can I store dehydrated foods?
Our dehydrated meals are designed for long-term planning. Depending on the brand and packaging, shelf life ranges from 5 to 8 years, and some specialized survival kits last even longer if stored in a cool, dry place. This makes them the perfect investment for your emergency kit, backpack for hiking, hunting, fishing, or just for home storage.
  • Can I cook food with cold water if I don't have a fire?
Yes, this is a critical advantage in emergencies. Although meals taste best with hot water, they can be rehydrated with cold water. In that case, you will have to wait a little longer (about 15–20 minutes), but you will get a complete and nutritious meal even without access to a stove or fire.
